Carnie P. Bragg, Jr. Senior Director NJ Lic. No. 2708 |
Carnie P. Bragg, Jr. Born in New York, New York, Carnie lived in Passaic, New Jersey and moved to Paterson in 1945. He was educated at Public School No. 6, Eastside High School, and graduated from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee in 1961. After graduating from the McAllister School of Embalming in 1962, he was licensed in 1963. When Carnie was seven years old, he worked on his first funeral. He knew then that he wanted to be a funeral director. In his high school yearbook, he inscribed, as his aspiration: "To be a mortician". Remarkably, this ambition from early childhood continued throughout Carnie's high school days. It was during this time that he industriously became interested in the business as a career for himself.
After graduating from the McAllister School of Embalming, he joined the family business. As he continued to work with his parents, Carnie realized that working with families and ministering to people in need was very rewarding for him personally, and he has been there ever since. Carnie worked along with his Dad until his father's untimely death on August 4, 1972. Since then, he has been the Senior Director at the Funeral Home.
Carnie is the father of two children, a son, Carnie P. Bragg, III ("Tre") and a daughter, Kim Carnita Way McCray and he also has four grandchildren.
Carnie joined the Calvary Baptist Church in 1948 and is extremely supportive of many churches in northern New Jersey. Since 1991, he has sung in the Hampton University Ministers' Conference and Choir Directors' Organists' Guild Workshop Choir.
