Undean Pittman, affectionately known as, "Babysister", was the daughter of the late Harvey Wiggins and the late Cora Lee Wiggins. The world was blessed with presence, when she was born on April 24, 1946 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina. Undean worked as a librarian at William Paterson College, prior to beginning her career in serving others in the hospital industry in the 1970's.
It is here where she began her life of service, working at Barnert Hospital in their Credit and Collections department.
She was employed there for over thirty years, until she retired in2008. Undean's true passion was evidenced by her work with the Church and community. Being a trail blazer for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she solidified her mark on this earth and in the hearts of everyone. Undean, celebrated her commitment to her calling, when she joined Canaan Baptist Church in Paterson in the late 1960's, where she immediately became engaged in her life's work.
Undean had a love for the work of the Lord an spent all of her adult life fulfilling her
purpose until the Lord called her home, Sunday, November 21, 2010.
She served on most of the ministries in the church, starting with Dorcas Ministry in
the 1970's, performing missionary duties for those in need. She later became active
in the Senior Missionary Board and traveled to Haiti in 1979, where they visited the
Farm in Lagoon to help feed thousands of people in need. One of Undean's true joys
on this earth was in the 1990's, when she traveled with the Church to the Holy Land
to praise and worship his Holy name.
Undean was the Church Clerk and also served on several boards, including the
Deaconess Board, Usher Board, Women Ministry and Education Fund. She also
graced the Church with her lovely voice, singing with both the Senior and
Emergency Choirs. Very dear to her heart, was her work with the Youth Ministry
where she mentored many of the youth in the Church. So, if you haven't noticed by
now... "She loved the Lord!"
Undean was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Pittman and her sister, Larletha Wiggins Thomas and two brothers, Carl Wiggins and James Wiggins.
She leaves to cherish wonderful memories: daughters, Pamela Pittman of Paterson, NJ and Sherry Adeyola of Richmond, VA; son-in-law, Dawoud Adeyola of Richmond, VA; brothers, Harvey (Barbara) Wiggins of Ocean City, MD, Alforse Wiggins and Harry Wiggins, both of Scotland Neck, NC; sisters, Yvonne (Eustice) McGuire, Carter (Michael) Darby, Lillie Mae Wiggins, all of Paterson, NJ, Daisy Little of Fayetteville, NC and Linne Wiggins McLean of Boston, MA; grandchildren, Cally Joy Weaver, Shaheed Adeyola, Aaliyah Adeyloya and Najla Adeyola; great grandchildren, Layla Weaver and Jordan Singletary and Godchildren, Nanette Jones and Ebony McGuire.
