Dorothy Debris Yancey was born November 22, 1945 in Vance County, North Carolina to the late Calvin and Christine Yancey.
She departed this life on February 28, 2013 at her residence.
Dorothy attended Vance County Public Schools. After high school, Dorothy moved to Patterson, NJ where she worked for several years.
Later in life, Dorothy moved back to Vance County and became a member of Ashley Grove Baptist Church.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin and Christine Yancey and a great grand-daughter, Caliah Yancey.
She leaves to cherish her memories: two children, Joyce Lassister (Jimmie) and Ronald Yancey (Danna), one brother, John Yancey, three grandchildren, Lionel Yancey (Shadiya), Shamira Yancey, Qualesiha Marshall, three step-grandchildren; Demetric Lassister of Henderson, NC and Jakell and Jallel Mitchell of Patterson, NJ; one great-grandchild Brayun Yancey, one nephew, Carlyle Howard (Letifa) of Patterson, NJ; two nieces, Regina McCrimmon of South Carolina and Tracey Jacob of North Carolina; two special friends, Ida Mitchell and Celestine Shaw of New Jersey and a host of other relatives and friends.
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
