On July 18, 2013 Lance Corporal Robert Shannon Jr. has finished his tour of duty hear on Earth, returning to be with the Commander in Chief of Heaven.
Born in Newark, NJ to the proud parents of Mr. Robert Shannon Sr. and Mrs. Sarah Shannon, he was raised in Dover, NJ and attended grade school during his childhood years.
Then relocating to Paterson, NJ where he was a graduate at John F. Kennedy High School, class of 1976. Robert also known as "Bobby" "Barry White" "Stoney" and "Big Bob", served in the National Guard for 2 years and went on to become one of the Few, the Proud Marines for the following 4 years.
As a rifleman Bobby received a sharp shooter metal, Sea Service 1st Award, Good Conduct Commercial metal and many more before receiving an Honorable Discharge Award.
Always smiling, Bobby was very friendly, loving, and a laid back person that could mingle with any and everyone. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a strong passion and love for his family, most of all his daughter whom he adored. Bobby worked at Dover Labs before becoming disabled.
We all know , he owned the liquor store down the hill. He valued that job just like the others.
Hes sister, Betty Ann Reed and his mother Sarah Shannon preceded Robert Shannon Jr. in death. He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Roberta Shannon, two grandchildren, Amaya and Javar Kinehin of Paterson, NJ, three brothers, Jonathan Shannon of Lodi, NJ, Eddie Shannon of Prospect Park, NJ, Joshua Shannon of Passaic, NJ, seven sisters, Patricia Elkerson of Raleigh, NC, Jadine Jackson of Wayne, NJ, Gardenia Yvonne Washington of Raleigh, NC, Tammy Moore of Haledon, NJ, Adel Diaz of Paterson, NJ, Jacobe Jackson of Raleigh, NC, and Shane Shannon of Paterson, NJ, four brothers-in-law, Larry Elkerson of Raleigh, NC, Jack Jackson of Wayne, NJ, Craig Ritter of Paterson, NJ, K.C. Jackson of Paterson, NJ, five aunts, Susan Walker, Hattie Shannon, Amanda Logan, Ottha Logan and Mavel Bless, numerous nieces and nephews and well as a host of relatives and friends.
