William M. Spruill, born on July 6, 1944 in Macon, North Carolina he was one of eight children of the late Jerry and Nannie Spruill.

William was baptized at an early age at Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Macon.

He was educated in North Carolina, where he graduated
valedictorian of his high school class. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years and was honorably discharged.

He relocated to Hackensack, NJ and was employed by the U.S. Postal Service where he remained for more than a quarter century until his retirement in 1994. William joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church and became
a faithful member.

He met and married, Laura Cunningham and to this
union two children were born.

After retirement he held several part-time
positions, but always found time for his love of gardening. Family and friends who had the pleasure of enjoying the produce from his garden often
spoke of how that was part of the country life he never forgot.

He was called home on May 6, 2011, at the age of 66, while at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ.

William is loving remembered by: his wife of thirty-six years, Laura "Kitty" Spruill; three children, Nikisha Maye, Damien Spruill and Tamisha Wilson all of New Jersey; six sisters, Jean Branch (Waymon) of
Kissimmee, Florida, Doris Jones, Zona Henderson (William) and Saundra Harrington (Edward) of Macon, North Carolina, Jernita Owens of Brooklyn, New York and Bonnie McKinney (Kenneth) of West Orange,
New Jersey; one brother, Yarborough Spruill (Gwen) also of Brooklyn, New York; one granddaughter, Nevaeh Maye; three sisters-in-law, Leona Blackmon (Bellarle) of Columbia, South Carolina and Hattie Benson of
Lancaster, South Carolina and Wyemia Grimes of Capitol Heights, Maryland; one brother-in-law, James R. Brown of Roanoke, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and admiring friends.
