Henry Forman Sr. was the first son born to Richard and Priscilla (Lewis) Forman in Lee County, SC. He was educated in Camden Public Schools. He married Elizabeth "Bess" (Joye) Forman on September 18, 1949. That union was blessed with four children, Betty, Maggie, Henry (Gene) Jr. and Wayne.
Henry was employed as a Mechanic for the South Carolina Department of Transportation before moving his family to Paterson, NJ in 1960. He also worked as a Construction Supervisor with Tom Vitale Construction Company in Franklin Lakes for several years and Jules Lauber Construction Company as a mason until retirement.
He accepted Christ and joined the Barnetsville Baptist Church of Bishopville, SC. He later joined the St. Luke Baptist Church of Paterson, NJ where served as a Deacon, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School and Sunday School Teacher. He attended Prayer Service and Bible Study regularly. He was named the Man of the Year in 1977 by Pastor Kenneth D.R. Clayton.
He relocated to South Carolina in 2002, where he joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Camden, SC. There he also served as a Deacon and again was given the distinguished honor of Man of the Year.
He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth (Joye) Forman, sons, Henry Jr. and Wayne, grandson, Jerome J. Brown, great-grandson, Al-Jerome Brown and brothers, Elijah Forman and Harold Hogins.
Henry "Rock" leaves to cherish his memories daughters, Betty Brown (Alvin) of Lugoff, SC, Maggie Smith (Jacob) of Florence, SC, 6 grandchildren, Shikieta Jackson (Cedric), Alvin Brown Jr., Philip Brown, Trenae Forman, Jacob Smith II and Jason Smith, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 4 sisters, Mary Prescott of Bishopville, SC, Lottie M. Nelson of Washington, DC, Betty Forman of Camden, SC, Brenda Robinson (George) of Camden, SC and Willie Forman (Joyce) of Paterson, NJ, 1 daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Y. Forman of Virginia Beach, VA.
